Ok but like Ed would be a great dad. Like how attentive he is with Al and then him with Nina or when Winry helped deliver that baby and he was legit so excited. Ed would be so caring and would try to always be there for his kids cause he didn’t have that so he would always be extra there. And his kids would be like aw dad and he would all dramatically cry and be so proud and loving. I feel like he would almost be like Hughes in a sense and he would also gush to Roy/Riza and they’d be fondly sad

And that’s exactly why I enjoy writing dad!Ed. Thinking about him brings me so much joy :’) I totally agree that he’d be a lot like Hughes, always gushing to Roy who would be not so happy about it (at least on the surface but the father figure side of him would probs be proud to se him as a happy dad to his kids)
