“Mom,” Winry hums as she tightens a bolt in the arm that she’s trying to adjust for the boy down the road. “Mom, are you listening to me?”

Winry pushes up her goggles, “Shouldn’t you be bothering your father?”

“Dad’s staring at you again.”

“Then kick him in the shin, honey, I have a lot of work to do.”

“I did that already and he sighed and his face hit the table for a minute. It’s really weird mom. Why is he being so weird?”

“I don’t know, why do you go bug your brother for a bit and I’ll kick your dad into making lunch, sound good?”

“Yes!”

Ed blinks when she turns to face him, one eyebrow raising before he laughs, “Really Ed?”

“You look pretty when you’re concentrating,” Ed says easily. “I’m not going to pass up a chance to watch you work. You’re talented and it’s almost like magic how you can make automail like that.”

“It’s science, just like your science,” Winry kisses his cheek. “Seriously Ed, you have to keep these kids fed, I’m busy this week, stop staring off into space.”

“I’m staring at you, not space.”

Winry laughs, “Some difference, Ed. Now, lunch. Before the little monsters decide that you’re a perfect lunch substitute.”

“They get the cannibalism from your side of the family.”

“Mhm, no they don’t. My side of the family doesn’t have a man that had the souls of millions inside him, I pretty sure that like cannibalism.”

Ed chokes on a laugh, “You’re amazing, I’m telling Al you think our old man was a cannibal.”

“Food,” Winry reminds him. “And if you’re really good and get the kids to bed on time, I might let you watch me finish up that custom order, deal?”

“Deal!”
