To me it sounds a lot like the last chapter of I Sense You Here by Giant Nickel (a wonderful fic btw would read again). At least it has all those things the anon mentioned in it!

@wendyhamlet‘s The Morning After.
Modern AU? Childhood friends to lovers? Mutual pining? Edwin? Sign me the f up. this fic is really well written, nicely characterized, and has kept me interested from the first chapter. I can practically feel the tension between Ed and Winry when I’m reading this fic and can’t wait for the without a doubt glorious moment when they finally admit their feelings for each other. I also like the darker tones in this fic, FMA is not a happy story so it makes sense there are some sad events in this one too (Please note: has some NSFW content, but it’s definitely not in the main focus).
This fic doesn’t follow only Ed and Winry, but I’d still say that out of all the characters in this fic they have the main focus. It’s a wonderful “slice of life” type of modern/apartment AU fic, which follows our fave fma characters’ life as they live in the same building. Despite being mostly a happy and fluffy fic, it does have some nice angst too, and to me the hurt/comfort parts have been some of my favorites so far. Such a feel good fic, reminds me a bit of hangonsilvergirl’s It’s Not a Big Deal (which the author of this fic has read too and uses the texting format in some chapters), so if you enjoy that fic, you can’t go wrong with this one.

Mr. Garfiel is able to convince Winry to help close up shop a little early today. After all, it is her birthday and he wants to take her out to dinner to celebrate. Unfortunately, all her friends and family were spread out across the country (and world) so it would probably just be her, Garfiel, and Paninya. Not that she was complaining! She had gotten many birthday calls, letters, and presents from loved ones. She’s a popular girl after all.
Here it is! Chapter five! Things get a little hostile between Winry and Riza.
The band is picking up their equipment while Paninya speaks on the phone with one of the coordinators of the Warped tour set list. It’s one of the biggest showcases for new and upcoming bands where hundreds of people come to watch. They were desperate to get a spot to play and it would be an amazing feat if their little band could go on stage and get some exposure.
“Yeah, well thank you so much! Alright, bye.” Paninya hangs up the phone and stands up from the stool.
Everyone drops what they’re doing and crowds around her. “What did they say?” Winry asks, eager.
I discovered @queenwinry‘s fic Devil’s Backbone, an (unfinished) EdWin college au, the other day and fell in love with the hipster!Ed, so I had to draw him.
well… here you go.
Today was just great. Winry has to sit in detention for an extra hour after school all because her stupid teacher is a big jerk.
After serving her time, she left the class and checked her phone. Winry sees a bunch of messages from her bandmates who all seem to have made plans in her absence.
Just as she was wondering how she was going to get home since all her friends had left school, she sees Ed sitting on the floor in the hallway. He has his earbuds in, so he doesn’t notice her until she’s standing over him.
Back by not popular demand! Chapter two!!
Being in high school was way harder than everyone gave her credit for. Winry had to juggle so many things on her plate. It was a wonder that she didn’t sleep in later. I mean, sure, she had stayed up late the night before texting her boyfriend, which is probably the reason she was so tired this morning, but that’s not her fault! She kept telling Ed they were going to be tired if they didn’t go to sleep soon, but he didn’t listen. He kept sending her songs and stupid videos until like one in the morning.
And besides, who cared if her sister got pissed at her? It’s not like she didn’t plan for this kind of stuff anyway. Riza was always nitpicking her for every stupid, little thing that she did wrong and never noticed anything she did that was right or good. Like her band, which had been doing amazing, by the way.

Riza had to wake up extra early every morning to make sure everyone else woke up. Not that she minded, she enjoyed early mornings. She just wished the other members of the household were responsible enough to do it themselves.
At six-thirty am sharp, she opened Selim’s door and gently roused him. “Good morning, time to get up.”
He rubbed the sleep from his eyes and yawned. Riza left him to it, trusting that he would get out of bed. Across the hall, she opened Winry’s door and announced the time loud and clear, so Winry couldn’t miss it, and left her door open. Winry’s body didn’t move. She didn’t even seem alive since she was lying face down in her pillow, but Riza knew.

And because these (old but so very good) livejournal fics get nowhere near enough attention, here’s another one I absolutely love (well, I love all that author’s fics, pls do check them out). That one doesn’t deal with the mental health stuff like the fic above did, but it still does have an important part about Ed feeling guilty, and it’s a super adorable story about how Ed and Winry finally confessed their feelings. I’m such a huuuuge sucker for these things. (If you know more in-character, well written fics about that particular topic, HMU). This fic works also as a stand-alone, but I still definitely recommend reading all the
Rejection/Frustration cycle fics.
