the difference between Ed and Al is that Al at least knows when it’s inappropriate and Ed swears 24/7 no matter the occasion or place or audience

which makes it MORE shocking because people will see this super mild mannered gentleman have an entire polite conversation with some dignitary of the country he’s currently visiting, using all the proper phrases and abiding the local traditions, and then leave the room to talk to the friends he’s traveling with and he’s just casually swearing up a storm

the first time he swears in front of Team Mustang they’re all horrified (except for Hawkeye of course, who thinks they’re all ridiculous for overreacting about it)

In FMA Father talks about how he views humans as ants but it’s through watching ants that Edward realises the interconnectedness of all things and though this it could be argued that Ed owes all his knowledge to observing the humble and seemingly inconsequential movements of ants and that’s why the humans win in the end thanks for coming to my ted talk
