Hi guys,I found this account on Instagram that basically repost some royai / FMA fan arts without crediting the artist. This makes me angry because I’m an artist too… however, I want only to inform you! Some of the authors of the original fan arts are @alexiadraws, @gunnigun, @b-griveros, @thenerdyalchemist, @thesilentwatcher, @bebbies, @inkuisitivskins, @rebeccacatalinas, @meiosis2, @theysangastheyslew… there are others, but I don’t remeber their nicknames, sorry!

This person is gross, all their pics are tagged as ‘credit to the artist’ and they sometimes post literally right after an artist posts also on instagram and they usually getting more notes than the original, they need to be reported. Spread so more artists see!

Boosting this, and a reminder to the entire FMA fandom: Reposting other people’s art without permission, and ESPECIALLY without proper credit, is never cool. It’s rude and disrespectful, and takes traffic away from the original artists, allowing you to piggyback off of other people’s hard work without doing anything yourself, while the people who really created the art- even if you credit them- often don’t get traffic to their own blogs. That’s not at all ok, and we, as a fandom, need to work to ensure that this never happens.

Here are some tips for combating art theft, and supporting your peers:

• Never repost fan art you find online, especially not without giving credit. Saying “credit to the artist” or “art not mine” is not giving credit, as it doesn’t say who the artist is.
• Never reblog stolen art.
• Don’t use fan art for icons, edits, moodboards, blog headers, YouTube videos, etc. without permission, either.
• If you really want to post someone’s art or use it for something, ask first! Find the artist, and send them a message explaining what you want to use it for, and politely asking if that’s alright. Don’t forget to mention that you will credit them, and make good on that promise! And if an artist declines permission to use their art, accept that and move on. Don’t harass them, and don’t just use their art anyway.
• If you’re not sure who the artist is, use SauceNao, or put the image into Google and see if the original post pops up. If the artist doesn’t speak your language, ask someone for help, or use an online translator.
• If an artist doesn’t respond, don’t use their art. Never assume you have permission to use something.
• When crediting an artist, either mention them by name, or link back to the original post. Or both, if possible!
• Although some artists only post their art to one account, many artists cross-post their art to multiple platforms, such as Instagram, Pixiv, DeviantArt, Facebook, and yes, Tumblr. If you want to post a piece of art to a certain platform, it’s always worth checking to see if the original artist already has a page of their own.
• If you see someone posting stolen art, don’t immediately harass them! Some people just don’t know any better, so start by politely explaining to them why they shouldn’t do that, and ask them to take it down. If they continue to post stolen art, contact the original artists, report the person if possible, and let others know not to reblog from them.
• For FMA art specifically, if you’re unsure if something is official art or fan art (because admittedly there’s some really impressive imitation official art out there), you can ask me, and I should probably be able to tell you.

Let’s all try to do our part to stop art theft, and respect, love, and support all the amazing artists in the FMA fandom! And remember, if you really like a piece of art, reblog it (from the source)!
