you know what i love about edwin? that despite the fact that they technically “get together” at the end of the series, it wasn’t a will-they-or-won’t-they sort of back and forth between them. they were just waiting for the right time. even when they realized they loved each other, it was kind of an “oh….!” moment instead of a big dawning revelation (even if ed didn’t handle it as well as winry did lmao). and the only thing it changed about them was that they were more aware of their own feelings towards each other and themselves. loving each other made them better, and kept them moving forward, and the narrative never wasted any time leaving their interactions at an awkward place with cheesy unresolved tension.

AND IT WAS SO GOOD. IT’S STILL SO GOOD. AND THEY GOT MARRIED AND HAD LOTSA CUTE BABIES AND THEY’RE ALWAYS GOING TO BE THERE FOR EACH OTHER AND NOW I GO LIE DOWN AND DIE

Ed: I’m nothing like Colonel Mustang!
Al: Look. There’s a busty, long haired blonde with a ’do no harm, take no shit’ attitude.
Ed: Where!?
Roy: (Magically appearing) Where?!

Ed: Yeah I used to be missing the arm too but I got it back haha. Ed’s kids: Sure thing, dad.

ED’S KIDS DON’T KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE ANYMORE

“Dad how do you know so many important people in the military?” “I used to work under Fuhrer Mustang, i still owe him money actually” “yeah right”

“dAD HOW COME THE EMPEROR OF XING JUST CAME IN THROUGH OUR WINDOW?!” “BECAUSE I MADE HIM EAT MY BOOT AND IT CEMENTED OUR FRIENDSHIP” “WHEN WILL THE LIES STOP DAD”

i know everyone complains about ed never crying (onscreen) in brotherhood but idk i love it??

maybe im biased bc i have issues with expressing emotion, but the fact that ed doesn’t cry, not because it’s stigmatized or weak or bad– winry cries a lot and it’s seen as a good, empathetic trait– but because he’s too willfully stubborn and guilty to allow himself to. idk i like it and it feels good man

I’ve said this in an earlier post of mine but it’s NEVER TREATED AS HIM BEING STRONG OR MANLY. It’s a form of self-abuse, and Ed knew it, which is why he would do it. Then, Hohenheim tells Ed that Al’s condition was HIS fault, that HE should’ve been there for them, that IT WAS HIS FAULT, NOT ED’S. And as admirable as it is that Ed doesn’t blame others for his mistakes, he takes too much blame, and it hurts him, and nobody else was able to shoulder the blame for him, due to circumstances and stuff (and as much as Al tried Ed has this “It’s never Al’s fault” mentality that will probably never go away). But finally, SOMEONE ELSE is able to take the blame; take everything that Ed was hurting himself for, off of Ed’s shoulders, and he’s angry, because he’s not used to the feeling of being absolved of blame at all, but he also finally lets himself cry, because he finally feels like HE DOESN’T NEED TO ABUSE HIMSELF ANYMORE. And I think it’s both necessary for his character, and so fricken genius and human that it hurts.

Toddler: Cookies?
Ed: No honey.
Toddler: Cookies?
Winry: No. Now don’t ask again.
Toddler: (crying)
Ed: …(whispers) What do we do?
Winry: (whispers) Hell! I don’t know! Wait it out?
(30 minutes later)
Al: Brother, seriously?
Ed: What were we supposed to do?!
Toddler: (Sitting on top of a mountain of cookies.)
Al: Not this!
Winry: Oh great! Now you tell us!
