I don’t have a ton of headcanons that I’m strongly attached to, but one I will defend until death is that Ed is often accidentally called “Mr. Rockbell” by tons of people in Amestris because so many of them know him through his wife, the amazing and peerless automail mechanic.

And he’s just standing there going, “YES I’M MR ROCKBELL LET’S TALK ABOUT MY AWESOME WIFE ISN’T SHE GREAT?!”

imagine eds kids in history class though like the teacher’s going on and on about the promised day and some big fucking coup and all this borning shit and they says something about ”edward elric” and now the ENTIRE class is staring at eds kids like ”👀 ur dad did what now”

ruinsofxerxes:

“Your nerdy dad did all that?! The same one who always makes science jokes down at the market, and won the pie eating contest at last year’s sheep festival? HE helped a coup and saved the country?!”

“The House-husband!?”

ur fav is problematic: edward elric

weepycat:

  • punched his dad in the fucking face.
  • blushes every time he thinks about his mechanic
  • admires izumi curtis and riza hawkeye too much to be real. male character??? looking up to female characters?? not possible.
  • worries about everyone but won’t admit that he worries
  • just all out socked his dad in the nose with his automail fist
  • he hit him so hard. with a metal hand.

If there’s a headcanon I’m not fond of, it’s the one about Winry always waiting for Ed (and Al) to return, even after the end of the manga. For me, it looks more like she’s used to not having them around and, while yes, she’s happy when they come back, she likes being on her own, independent and free to go to Rush Valley, Central, Resembol or other locations according to her own schedule.
I doubt she stays in Resembol a lot, having most of her clients in Rush Valley and being used to the agitation of the town. She’d miss her colleagues, the discussions about automails and the inspiration and motivation everyone gains from each other! (And I want her to keep in touch with the Briggs mechanics. I wanted a picture of them together at the end of the manga.)

I headcanon that the Rockbells
(because yes, living there, there’s no chance for anyone to call Ed anything other than “Mr. Rockbell”)

end up in Rush Valley and that Ed’s the stay at home dad — who keeps studying alchemy and eventually goes on a short trip from time to time. He probably happens to give a hand at Winry’s shop too, or work with Paninya to repair things in town. Heck yeah, I could see them working on the rooftops together and bickering with each other. But yeah, mostly, he’s a dad with too much books.

Maybe they move to a big city a few years later. Winry opens a bigger business — maybe an automail clinic with people working with/for her? — while Ed becomes an university lecturer in theorical alchemy. Or ethics in alchemy. People happen to lack that.

100% approved!   I pains me to read fics in a manga/brotherhood timeline where Ed’s gone like five years at a time and Winry waits and waits.  Or they’re married and have children and he’s gone months to a year at a time.   I think he’d still love to travel, but would limit it because if anything he learned from Van Hohenheim is that he doesn’t want to be absent from his own kids like Hoho was to him and Al.

I also think they settle (for a while at least) in Rush Valley because that’s where Winry would get all her work until Granny retired.

It would be difficult, at first with Ed not having anything to do and Winry busy – some arguments would ensue, but Ed would find his talents in writing about his and Al’s research and traveling in spurts to learn more about other types of alchemy so he could write about it and publish and even teach.

Forget about calling him “Mr. Elric” in the presence of Winry while they’re in Rush Valley.   He’s called Mr. Rockbell and he couldn’t care less because he’s super proud of Winry’s success (and he quit trying to correct people after the first 100 times.)

loves it!

teenmomtrash:

ok but you know ed would joke and brag about being the best dad but at the end of the night he would still have hushed conversations with winry, worried he’s not good enough or that he’ll screw up

Winry Rockbell defense post

priincessyona:

It really pisses me off whenever I see hate posts on Winry. Like honestly why would anyone hate this girl???

Winry has been through so much, losing her parents at young age and almost losing her best friends too.

Yet, she always puts on a smile and tries to look happy to make everyone around her feel better, because she doesn’t want to see others suffer like she did.

She tries her best to help people even in the smallest ways, starting with the help she offers Ed after the bad outcome of the transmutation and this is exactly what makes other people love her.

image

When she finds the man who killed her parents with no reason she finally breaks down and it’s no wonder her first thought is the one to kill him as well. But in spite of this, after swallowing down her hatred she’s ready to collaborate with him for a greater good, because she puts other people’s well-being before her own.

image

And people say she’s basically just fan service because of the tank top she wears while she’s working or that her only purpose in the series is to be Ed’s love interest.

Please, find a better excuse to hate on her. Winry is completely independant and strong, even if her strenght is very a different kind from Riza or Lan Fan’s. She’s kind, sweet and selfless and deserves all the love possible!
