I totally agree with you.
Ed is such a caring and compassionate guy who is trying his best ✨
He’s just a nice and sassy boy who dresses terribly

yeah Ed may have slain gods and all that but have you considered how awfully cute he looks with his hair down
I think the reason people are so judgmental of Edwin is because what they choose to see is a happy girl and main character who bump heads.
But this isn’t even remotely close to reality that it’s about two children who had a mutual respect for each other, who both parted to pursue their own career/goal. Who both realized that there is more to the others’ problems than they initially expected. Who learned to let the other in on their life and realized the consequence of shutting them out. Who stepped up and told the other what needs to be done. Who soon realized that they had both become adults who, through everything, were still able to hold onto their innocent joking, family morals, and memories.
Who used to be two little kids with little crushes that slowly became genuine love, respect, and partnership. Who only ever felt this way about each other.
You absolutely are not obligated to ship it, but if you can’t see their relationship for what it is, it is because you’re forcing yourself not to.

if someone doesn’t confess their love for me through alchemic theories then honestly, what’s the point?
I mean I SAY I love the ‘Enemies to Lovers’ trope but what I really MEAN is that I love the
‘Enemies to Resentful Allies In A Time Of Crisis to Grudging Mutual Respect to Growing Fondness Concealed By Snark to Hurtful Betrayal to Slow Reconciliation With A Greater Understanding Of Each Other to Strange But Solid Friendship to Unexpected Feelings In A Time Of Crisis to Denying Their Feelings While Growing Closer As Friends to Epiphanies Of Love In The Worst Possible Circumstances to Mutual Pining to Unbearable Sexual Tension to Lovers’
trope
I know that both Ed and Winry decided to give most of their lives to each other but I’m pretty sure that they both give each other 100% because their love and trust for each other is that strong.
I just finished watching Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and my only complaint was that we didn’t get to see Al enjoy his apple pie.
