I’m afraid I won’t be able to write a Mother’s day’s drabble on time (maybe I’ll try that later), but let me talk about a couple of headcanons that are slightly related to the day’s theme:

When Ed and Winry get married, they discuss whose name they should use. Ed is willing to take Rockbell as his last name, but Winry thinks he should keep Elric while she as Pinako’s only granddaughter wants to stay as Rockbell, so they compromise and start using Rockbell-Elric instead. The kids get the same last name as well, and if for example one of the kids’ teachers call them just “Elric”, Ed throws a fit and says that they are Rockbells, damn it. 

I have also decided my name headcanons for the kids: Alan Yuriu, Emma Sarah Izumi, Arthur Maes William and Elena Trisha Maria. Alan and Emma I saw in ellamariexx’s fics and thought they were cute, and I quite liked the idea that the boys’ names start with A while the girls’ with E so that’s why Arthur and Elena. If they have more kids than that is up for debate but those are what I have “locked” so far.

I HC that as a mother Winry is a relatively strict one (she’s raising 4 or more Elrics, after all, so she has to be) but she always makes sure the kids know she loves them. She isn’t really as strict as an outsider might think tho; for example, when she sees Ed trying to give the kids some sweets behind her back, she lets it be and doesn’t (usually) even scold Ed. She also teaches them a lot about mechanics and medicine, but always empathizes that she doesn’t want to force any of them to follow her footsteps but wants them to find their own thing that feels good to them. (Sometimes she and Ed still have alchemy vs automail debates but the kids know their parents aren’t really that serious about it)
