We all know that Van Hohenheim wears glasses in 1914.

However, on the night Xerxes was sacrificed, when Hohenheim stopped biologically aging, he isn’t seen wearing any. Nor does he wear glasses in any other Xerxes flashback.

You might say, “Oh, well glasses just weren’t invented yet then,” But in episode 56, a Xerxian named Tommy, one of the souls living in Hohenheim’s stone, is pictured wearing glasses

If Hohenheim needed glasses back then, he would have been able to get them, so it makes no sense for him to only start wearing glasses later on. He’s a philosopher’s stone whose health never deteriorates, so his eyesight wouldn’t ever start worsening.

Which means that the only logical conclusion I can come to is that Van Hohenheim wears glasses just for the aesthetic.

What else would you expect from the father of Edward “I would die for my aesthetic” Elric?

edward “aesthetic or die” elric will, without fail, incorporate at least one skull in every single thing he creates

he gets it from his father, van “wears a nice suit at all times whether he’s fixing his kids swing or rebuilding a city” hoenheim
