My fav @kilmartin85 gave me the prompt “You’re hiding under the blanket because you’re blushing?” (well, technically you gave me a free choice so this is what I picked) and since I know you love the ice skating au, here’s a little treat for you. (Let’s pretend there are bands/musicians from our world in the ice skating au.)

Ed and
Winry were spending a rare night together in Resembool. After the Olympics,
everything had been a blur, and they hadn’t gotten many opportunities to visit
each other, but about a month after their separation, Winry got an opportunity
to travel to Ed’s hometown. Normally, Ed lived alone in Central, but after breaking his leg his father had insisted that he should stay in Resembool at least
until his leg was properly healed, and even to his own surprise, Ed had finally
agreed on it. To everyone who was listening, he explained that it was only
because cleaning, cooking and other household chores were difficult on crutches, but Winry knew
better. He wanted to give his father another chance, finally understanding why
he had reacted the way he had after his mother’s death.
Now they
were huddled on the couch in Ed’s room (Ed had made it loud and clear no one should
get too close to the room while Winry was there), just relaxing in each other’s
arms after a heavy reunion make out session. Winry reached to take her phone
from the TV table and suggested they put on some background music.
“That
reminds me… We have known for two months already but we have never discussed
our music preferences. What kind of music do you listen to?” She asked.
“Take a
guess,” Ed challenged her, and Winry was immediately ready for the game.
“I say… you
listen to gangsta rap, heavy metal and punk.”
“You’re not
entirely wrong,” Ed smirked. “I have had phases during which I’ve listened to
all of those.”
“Why am I
not surprised?” Winry tried to tease him, but Ed ignored that.
“But these
days it’s a bit different. I like a few indie bands, and although I would never
tell this to him, Mustang plays some cool rock music in the locker room from
time to time.”
“Nickelback?”
“Heck yes! Nothing
gets you pumped up for a game like Burn It To The Ground.” Ed threw his fist in
the air to emphasize his words.
“I knew it.
Once a nerd, always a nerd.”
“Hey, there’s
nothing nerdish in Nickelback!”
“Says the
nerd extra ordinaire.”
“Well, you
totally-not-nerd, what do you listen to then?” Ed asked curiously.
“Please,
don’t laugh at me…”
“Why would
I laugh?”
“Because you’re a meanie.” She stuck her tongue out at him. “Fine, I really
like the eastern pop music. And I may have had an Ed Sheeran phase…”
To her
surprise, Ed didn’t laugh. “Hey, nothing wrong with my namesake’s music!”
“You think?”
Winry asked, surprise clear on her face.
“Yes! Every
time I sit in the same car with the Hughes’, they play his CD. And…” Ed seemed
too embarrassed to say the rest.
“… Yes?”
Winry encouraged him to continue.
“Lately… I
think I’ve started to understand some of his songs better.”
Now his
face was red like a tomato, and he pulled the blanket that was on them to cover
it.
“You’re
hiding under the blanket because you’re blushing?” Winry asked, amused, and
tried to take the blanket off his hands. “In what way do you understand his
songs better?”
“I… I… don’t
make me say it!” Ed cried out when Winry won the blanket battle.
“You’ll get
a kiss if you do.” She promised.
“Fine. I
mean… you know how a lot of his songs are more or less romantic…”
“Yes, I’ve
noticed.” Winry snorted.
“Well, I
used to think that kind of music is nonsense… like why would anyone listen to
syrup like that? But then I met someone. And she changed my mind. It does make sense after all.”
“Aww, Ed. That’s
probably the sweetest thing I’ve heard you say.”
She gave
him a light peck on the lips and then hummed quietly:
“But
darling, just kiss me slow, your heart is all I own”*
